Our history is long and steeped with family life long tradition. Korban Funeral Chapel was originally established by Martin and Helen Korban and along with their son, Richard, they ran the funeral home in Winnipeg for decades. After Martin passed away in 2001, the funeral home was directed by Richard and Donna, his wife.
The story would not be complete without bringing in their fellow friend and funeral director, Joe Coffey. In 2016, Richard and Donna passed the business onto Joe and he has been running it with his family ever since.
Joe grew up in the Manitoba area and went on to study philosophy and theology for priesthood with the Basilian Fathers. From there, he began to study to become a funeral director. Because of his extensive education and experience, Joe Coffey has trained funeral directors and embalmers across the country. The chapel is completely air conditioned and provides comfortable seating for more than 200 guests with an overflow capacity for many more. Our chapel in Winnipeg is fully equipped with the most modern audio and video equipment so that your service flows smoothly.
We have a separate reception area that can seat up to 100 guests for a hot meal or 120 for a more casual reception. Our family-owned chapel partners with a variety of caterers who can serve you a six-course meal or coffee and donuts for your comfort.
